JOB DESCRIPTION - PACKAGING OPERATOR

DKAT Associates, Inc. has been retained by a state-of-the art beverage co-packing company in the Capital Region of NYS to seek candidates to fill the role of Machine Operator/Technician . This position is an integral part of the production management team, reporting to the Sr. Manager of Production and Quality, the MOT is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the production line and support the production team in completing daily projects. The ideal candidate will be able to be the point person for a variety of tasks and projects. The position requires technical abilities to operate and maintain machinery. Extensive training on machine operation and maintenance will be provided. Mechanical engineering experience a plus. Responsibilities:

• Safely and efficiently operate a canning line consisting of KHS Innofill CAN-C 27/6 and ancillary equipment
• Ensure canning equipment and hardware are in functioning order. Perform maintenance and properly report and document issues as needed
• Keep up to date deviation log for each piece of equipment
• Lead and keep the packaging team motivated and working efficiently
• Inspect can seams with a micrometer and specialized software. Calibrate seamer as necessary
• Inspect the quality of packaged products and assure they are fit for distribution
• Assist with record keeping assuring correct inventory counts for canning runs
• Keep running inventory of spare parts/ lubricant needed for canning equipment
• Work closely with the management team to explore strategies to improve the production process, increase efficiency and minimize losses
• Effectively communicate with different teams (Blending, Purchasing, Quality Assurance, Shipping and Client Services) to achieve company production goals
• Maintain a safe, clean, orderly, and sanitary environment in all packaging-related areas (tanks, trench drains, canning lines, hose lines, pumps, kegs, conveyors, floor, etc.)
• Understand operations and changeover procedure for all packaging equipment including depalletizer, CIJ date coder, canning filler, X-Ray fill height inspection, labeler, cartoner, tray former, shrink bundler, inline blending and in-line blending/carbonation skid

Requirements:

• Experience working in a brewery/winery/distillery or food and beverage production environment is strongly preferred
• Experience with CIP processes and KHS fillers is highly preferred
• Tech Savvy– Able to use Google Suites and in-house app for communication and record keeping
• Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
• Mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills and attention to detail will enable success in the role
• Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills
• Desire to contribute to the improvement of work processes
• Strong time management skills with the ability to multitask
• This position will be required to work on site Tuesday-Friday Schedule, with occasional nights and weekends

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
